  1. Hello! I am a Squarespace designer and I am ramping up my client proposal/contract for 2024. I have signed & completed 8 client sites so I am still very much in the growing stage of my business and I am looking to take on more clients this year. I have one that I created that I have been using, but I know that there probably ways that I can be structuring it to help me sign more clients. I know it can be a little bit sensitive, but I was wondering if there are any designers out there who would be willing to share their contracts/a template that they use? I know that this would really help me grow my business and I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your support and consideration! Thanks so much, Emie Hughes
  2. Hi! I want a section of my webpage to have vertical tabs that open up like an accordion. I am not sure if there is code I can use to convert an accordion block or summary block or even something else into something like this. For visual reference, I am trying to achieve what is shown in this youtube video. I am a novice at web design. Any ideas or feedback appreciated!
  3. What do David Bowie, Alanis Morissette, Sia, and Xavier White have in common? They all rock their online presence using Squarespace, and you can too! This post will help you create a website as awesome as the unique sounds you share with your fans. You’ll learn about Squarespace features that you can use to share your music, info about your next gig and even manage new merch without having to juggle the inventory yourself. Your Online Stage Presence: Essential Pages for Your Musician Website Your Squarespace website can help you connect with fans, showcase your music, and tell the world what you're all about. Here are the essential pages to get you started and rocking online: Home Page: Your Spotlight Moment The Home Page is your website's first impression, so make it count! Here's what to include: A killer hero image: This could be a high-quality photo of you performing, your album cover, or anything that captures your vibe. You can also feature a background video, adding some eye-catching motion to your home page. A captivating bio: In a few short sentences, tell the world who you are, what kind of music you make, and why they should be listening. Keep it interesting but easy to understand, like you're having a conversation with a friend. Links to your music: Make it easy for fans to find your music. Embed your music player directly on the homepage, or link to your profiles on streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. Pro Tip: Don't forget a clear "Call to Action" (CTA) on your homepage. This tells fans what you want them to do next, like subscribing to your mailing list to be notified of your next event, buying your latest album with a product block, or checking out your tour dates with a link to your event page. About Page: Sharing Your Story The About Page is your chance to connect with fans on a deeper level. Here, you can: Tell your story: How did you get started with music? What inspires you? Tell the story behind your sound, your album art, or even your creative artist name. Introduce your band members (or you, if you’re a solo artist!): Let fans get to know the people behind the music. Include fun facts and anecdotes to help people connect with you on a personal level. Share photos and videos: Show fans behind-the-scenes glimpses, performance photos, or anything that gives them a taste of your personality. Pro Tip: Encourage your community to contribute! Feature Instagram posts where fans have tagged you and link to your social profiles so they can follow you there, too. Music Page: Where Your Music Shines This is the heart of your website, where fans come to experience your music. Here's how to make it awesome: Showcase your music: You have a few different options here: You can upload your audio files directly to Squarespace. This is great if you're selling your music directly through your website. You can upload a sample of the audio file and then add a link to the physical or digital product. Embed music from streaming platforms like SoundCloud. This is a good option if you already have a presence on those platforms. Make it easy for fans to listen, purchase, or pre-order your music: Link to your music stores (iTunes, Bandcamp, etc.) or offer downloads directly on your website (through Squarespace's built-in e-commerce features). Tour Dates Page: Promote Your Next Event This page is essential to let fans know where they can see you live! You’ll find a few creative ways to do this using Squarespace. You can Use an event page type to page to display info about upcoming events, and past events, too. For each event, make sure you include the cities, and venues, with a link to ticket sales for each individual show. You can also link directly to Bandsintown. Squarespace lets you integrate Bandsintown blocks that seamlessly blend with your website's design. These blocks display your tour dates, festivals, or even live-stream shows directly from your Bandsintown profile. Here's the coolest part: Visitors can RSVP to concerts, buy tickets, join live-stream shows, and get notified about future gigs, all through links embedded right in the block. It's a one-stop shop for your fans to stay connected and rock out with you live, and it can be embedded directly into the Squarespace website you’ve created. A quick side note about using Bandsintown with Squarespace: You'll need to set the dates, text, and buttons you want to appear by heading over to your Bandsintown account. Learn more about the Bandsintown blocks. Contact Page: Stay Connected with Your Fans Consider creating a page to help your fans stay connected to you: Add a newsletter block to collect email addresses from your fans! You'll be able to use Squarespace Campaigns to send them updates about new music, tour dates, and exclusive content. Add your social media links. Make sure fans can find you on all the major platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and any other place you regularly post your creative content. Additional Features to Supercharge Your Musician Website Rocking the essential pages is a great start, but there's always room to crank your website up to eleven! Here are some bonus features to consider, transforming your website from a stage to a full-fledged fan zone: Let Your Inner Poet Speak with A Blog Ever wanted to share your thoughts, stories, and creative process with the world? A blog is your platform! You can: Write about your musical journey: Share your experiences, songwriting inspirations, or even gear reviews. Post behind-the-scenes content: Give fans exclusive access to recording sessions, music video shoots, or tour shenanigans. (Just keep it PG-rated, alright?) Connect with fans on a deeper level: Show your personality, humor, and what makes you tick. Gear Up Your Fans with Merch Let your fans wear their fandom loud and proud with a killer merch store! Selling your own merchandise is a fantastic way to generate some extra income to support your music career. Squarespace allows you to sell both physical and digital merch. You can offer downloadable content like exclusive song demos, ringtones, or high-resolution wallpapers. Squarespace has built-in e-commerce features that will deliver these digital products to you. You can also use Squarespace to sell physical merch. T-shirts, hoodies, hats, posters – the sky's the limit! Design your own merch or partner with a printing company, like Printful. Printful makes it easier than ever because they integrate directly with Squarespace! You can upload your own images, like your band's logo or your latest album artwork, and Printful handles the rest. Yup, they print, they ship, and there is no minimum order amount and no more inventory to keep track of; Printful does it all for you. Learn more about Custom Merch. Building Your Fan Base with Mailing Lists Your website visitors are awesome, but a mailing list lets you build a dedicated fan base. With a mailing list, you can: Stay connected with fans: Send out updates about new music, tour dates, or exclusive content. Offer special promotions: Give your email subscribers exclusive discounts on merch or early access to new releases. Build anticipation: Tease upcoming projects or share behind-the-scenes sneak peeks to keep fans engaged. Pro tip: add a newsletter block to the footer of your website so it’s visible on every page. When people sign up, you can send them an auto email, welcoming them to your email list, and notify them of events, offers, and more using Squarespace campaigns. Get To Know Your Audience with Analytics Understanding your audience can help you create new content that truly connects with them. Squarespace has built-in analytics that give you valuable insights into your website traffic. You can see: How many people are visiting your website: Track your website's growth and see how effective your promotional efforts are. Where your visitors come from: This helps you understand your audience demographics and tailor your content accordingly. What pages are most popular: See which content resonates most with your fans and focus on creating more of what they love. 4. Hello! I am new at SS web design for clients and I have to give a quote to an area school district. First, I was wondering if SS is a good platform to host a school website on? And if it is, is there a good template to use as a starting point? Here is a link to the current website...https://www.sanduskycc.org/ They are looking for a website revamp. Thank you in advance for any guidance that can be shared!
  5. Hi everyone, I have selected a services layout to display my web design portfolio. I would like each of the images in this layout to be clickable so the user can navigate to a page where they can read more about the project. I would also like the title under each image to do the same thing, as well as for the title to be underlined. In the editor for this block I can only see an option to add a link in the description, but not to the image or the the title. I have included a screen shot below of the block that I mean. Thanks in advance for the help. -ioana
  6. Have you ever heard of the term “mobile-first design”? It’s a common concept among web designers who want to stay ahead of the curve on the technologies that we use every day to view sites on the Internet. The philosophy contained within mobile-first design is called “progressive advancement,” which dictates that you should design your web presence with smaller screens in mind first, which in turn makes it easier for you to progressively move on to larger screens. According to data shared by the AdobeXD Ideas blog, two billion people currently access the internet on their mobile devices, and that number is expected to jump 72.5% in the next three years. That’s a lot of people to think about! In essence, thinking about mobile-first design forces you to strategize and prioritize your content so that it is leaner and more to the point, to use headings strategically in order to create a visual hierarchy, reduce the number of links in your navigation to fit a smaller screen, use fonts that prioritize readability, and to use white spaces to your advantage for a cleaner layout. What are your best practices for designing more mobile friendly sites? Share your ideas below!
  7. Hey everyone,

For detailed instructions, check out the full article here.

That's it! Elevate your site's design with custom fonts today!

Feel free to ask any questions or share your experiences below.

  8. I have attempted to add in the TikTok logo in the social links block: https://seaustravl.com/explore But it is appearing incorrectly. Does anyone have a solution so it aligns with the design of the other logos/icons? Also, the last link in the social link is our website but i would like a more generic web/globe/www icon rather than the hyperlink icon, is this also possible?
  9. Hi @DEVCHDM! How fun to be in a group of quilters 🙂 There's a few simple things you can do that will help to bring the site together and make it more cohesive. - Make sure all buttons are a few words (like, "register here" vs "all workshops, photos, supply lists and more as info becomes available") - Create a logo for the top navigation. - Remove the "scroll down" at the top - people are going to scroll down anyways! - Make sure items in each section are aligned properly and aren't scattered in the section. - Chose two contrasting fonts for the header/paragraph text. - Decrease the space between the characters in the paragraph font. - Replace the default Squarespace favicon with your own! - Remove "home page" from the header - your logo/icon on the left is the link back to the home page. - This is just a personal preference, but I would remove the text/image fading in animation as someone scrolls the page. This post may be useful too - https://www.jessicamiller.work/blog/beginner-web-design-mistakes Let me know if you have questions about anything. Jessica

  11. Hi @emiehughes It depends on the services offered. Good web design and SEO go hand-in-hand. Basic SEO should be a core component of web design, not an add-on. Best practices such as good headings/tags, site structure, page speed, etc. create better user experience and are needed for properly-built sites. Charging separately for fundamentals might make clients question the value of the service, or wonder if they are being billed extra for what should be standard. If you offer advanced SEO services, it would be reasonable to list these as specialized options.
  12. Gallery Block is one of the most wanted feature on Squarespace 7.1, for the last few days I thought Squarespace dev team decided to bring it back but it turns out a 'mistake' and now it gone again! So I created this snippet to bring the feature to include the gallery into section's block using code block and gallery section. There a few steps you need to follow 1. Create a gallery section and grab it's section id, using this extension: example: section[data-section-id="5fad1f27e741ef42c9a8a4a3"] Squarespace ID Finder - Chrome Web Store (google.com) 2. Create a Code Block where you wanted the gallery to show up, add this code snippet <div class="gallery-placeholder" data-target='{gallery-section-id}'> Gallery Block Name (optional) </div> whereas - {gallery-section-id} should be replace with the section id you got above - Gallery Block Name: this is optional, you can place it to identify which section will be replaced in the block position 3. Add these snippet into Settings->Advanced->Code Injection, note that the stylesheet can be place into Design->Custom CSS <style> /* Override all the gallery section style */ .gallery-placeholder * { background: inherit; } .gallery-placeholder .gallery-section { padding-top: 0 !important; min-height: inherit !important; } .gallery-placeholder .gallery-section .gallery-grid, .gallery-placeholder .gallery-section .gallery-reel { padding: 0 !important; } .gallery-placeholder .section-background { display: none; } </style> <script> document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function() { if ( window.location !== window.parent.location ) { // The page is in an iframe return; } else { // The page is not in an iframe var galleries = document.querySelectorAll(".gallery-placeholder"); for (var i = 0; i < galleries.length; i++) { galleries[i].innerHTML = ""; var target = galleries[i].getAttribute("data-target"); if (document.querySelector(target)) { galleries[i].appendChild(document.querySelector(target)); } } } }) </script> Check out the outcome here https://beyondspace-showcase.squarespace.com/gallery-demo?password=1234&utm_source=squarespace_forum&utm_medium=topic&utm_campaign=promo
  13. Looking for a workaround on Squarespace billing for web design services to that gives my clients an option to either: A. Pay 2.9% processing fee if they want to pay online or B. Mail a check Has anyone had success with this?

  15. Site URL: https://www.familienvideosmachen.de How can we hide the navigation on a landing-page? Squarespace has no solution for this and recently deleted the option to solve this via code. I cannot believe this service is unable to offer one of the moste common standards in web design? A professional landing-page musst always be without any menu. Does anybody have a solution for this bug?
  16. Hi, I was wondering if you can help me. I have a summary block of blog articles and I really like how they look on web. But on mobile the pictures are really small and I would much prefer them to be in the "grid" just pictures above the data. Is there a way to apply change of design for mobile device for specific summary block? Thank you (website https://aboutphotography.blog/)

Learn more about editing your time zone settings. Commerce Boost your sales with add-on products You can now display another product on a product page to encourage your customers to purchase related or complementary items. Keep in mind, this is a permanent change, and some aspects of your site might look different. Click on Website > Design > Update to Version 7.1 to preview your site in version 7.1 and update it. The update tool is only available on the Brine and Bedford template families. If you’re not using those templates, you can switch your template to Brine or Bedford first. Learn more about updating your site to version 7.1. Blog on the go with your mobile device We’ve made more improvements to the mobile blogging experience on the Squarespace app. You can now edit existing posts, edit supported blocks in your posts, and use device view to see how your post will look on a desktop. Learn more about blogging with the Squarespace app. Block AI and search engine crawlers You can block search engines and AI web crawlers from crawling your site, while leaving it available for visitors to access, in the Settings > Crawlers panel. A web crawler is a type of bot, typically operated by search engines, that automatically scans the content of websites across the Internet, so their content can appear in search results. Web crawlers are also used by AI companies to train their large language models (LLMs). These models learn from the content of websites they scan, and use the data to improve the accuracy and general capabilities of their AI models. By default, crawlers scan all content published on the Internet, but if you'd like to exclude your website from these scans, you can choose to hide your site from search engines or AI crawlers. Learn more about hiding your site from web crawlers. Take control of your forms’ design and branding We’ve added a Forms section within the Site Styles panel so you can further style your forms to give them a unique, yet consistent look. You can charge customers a one-time fee for access to content, such as video courses or a photo library. Learn more about Locked Links.
  18. @Celestethebest Blog posts do not have an advance section within their page. I attempted to paste your code into the advance section of the "BLOG" page into the page header and the blog post content, and the code did not affect the font size at all. I'm having the same issue as @Melissa114. I have my font settings for all of my headers, paragraphs, etc. set just the way I like them for my web site in general. But none of these sizes are optimal for my actual blog articles, which ironically is where I need the header designations to be most organized. How can I edit the size and other font settings of my headers ONLY within my blog so that my design in the rest of my web site is not impacted?

  20. I think they are suggesting Brine or Bedford because the look of 7.1 is based on the Brine family and Bedford inspired the Brine family. Both like 7.1 have page sections, and parallax scrolling if you want it. 7.1 is a major configuration design tool change from 7.0 but if it is the look you want, then Brine will be a much easier "upgrade" to make. If you switch to Brine I would stay with it. It is considered by many professional web site designers to still be the best template on the web.
  21. Site URL: https://www.leafsilver.com/ Hello! My name is Leaf, I'm an artist and designer working as a freelance website designer splitting time between Vermont and Chicago. I am interested in growing my client base and as a first step towards that, my website. I just attended Sophia Ojha's webinar on the Client on-boarding process, which was illuminating! I have a lot more to work on now :)) I just published an update to my personal website to include my freelance services as a way for clients to learn more, find my work and contact me. I'm still working on fleshing out client case studies for my portfolio but in the mean time would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions on my site's layout and information architecture from y'all. I'm very much still in the process of tweaking and It would be helpful to have some thoughts to guide my process going forward. Thanks!
  22. Hi Squarespace community, I am trying to figure out how to create a thin line border around my website and around specific sections (like in this example website: https://contrabass-grape-cmtm.squarespace.com/) I am new to web design, so I am wondering if there's a way to add a CSS code to achieve this custom border look? I have been trying to find a tutorial but haven't found anything! Thank you in advance!
